dictation's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's always ten freaking pounds.

I'm going to a conference in three weeks and it's time for some physical spring cleaning. Out with the Nanaimo Bars, in with the fat free yogurt. I need to lose 10 lbs. I want to lose 10 lbs. I would also like to keep eating Nanaimo Bars... Alas, I have discovered it isn't possible to lose on the Nanaimo Bar diet.

I signed up with Anne Collins, a British nutritionist. It cost $19.95 (US) to join her site and so far I'm impressed. She's offers a wide variety of diet plans, detailed menu plans, lots of substitutes, free foods, a calorie counter, and many tips for success. She also permits fast foods and has researched virtually every fast food outlet for allowable items including their calories. I'm motivated.

My problem is portion control. I'll eat four cups of lunch instead of the necessary one. I'm also easily sabotaged by the hectic pressures of the week. Anne Collins helps you to plan ahead and avoid the pitfalls.

So...this morning I ate a cup of oatmeal and had green tea with peppermint. Mid-morning I had a snack of one cup of frozen unsweetened organic blueberries and a half a cup of Nancy's organic fat free yogurt. Lunch (yet to be had) will be a hearty vegetable salad with a half a tin of water-packed albacore tuna. Dinner will be a cup of chile with yves vegetarian ground round. Before bed snack will be a mini fat free organic vanilla yogurt. All of this adds up to about 1100 calories. Not bad eh? The idea is to eat several small meals a day.

If you're good, boys and girls, I'll post a tip.

Like this one:

Tip 16.
Temptation is Fuelled By Hunger

Everywhere we look, there's temptation.
Every time we switch on the TV, there's temptation.

We can't escape from it.

So we must protect ourselves against it, or else we're dead meat.

Okay, so what's the best protection against temptation?
Answer: A full stomach.

Let me put it another way: the fastest way to quit dieting is to go hungry. Because hunger boosts temptation and undermines willpower.

TIPS ON AVOIDING HUNGER

- Never skip breakfast.
- Don't go more than 3 hours without eating something (no matter how small).
- If possible, eat at the same times each day.
- Maintain a regular exercise routine, if possible, at the same time each day.
- Add extra vegetables or salad to every meal.
- If necessary, eat extra vegetables, salad or beans, even if you exceed your calorie-level.

LESSON

It's better to eat a little too much rather than not enough.
Because not eating enough causes hunger, and HUNGER KILLS DIETS!!

I like her approach.
