dictation's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My muscles are mumply and grumbly. Could this be attributed to my first day back at the gym in a while? A long while? Almost two months? Yes. My neck is corded tight on the right side, and no matter how much I stretch, it won't give. This must be what it feels like to strain to have a neck when you haven't got one. Or something. But...on to movies. Last night I watched a little gem called Confidence featuring Edward Burns as a sexually mesmerizing* grifter who crosses a bi-sexual ADHD-afflicted crime boss played by Dustin Hoffman. Hoffman nails the maniacal sleaze of his character, sweating and spitting some mean and clammy nutzo. It's obvious he savoured every million-dollar minute playing this character. Andy Garcia is in top form as an unorthodox, nerdy-apparelled FBI agent in apparent pursuit of the grifter. If you liked the cleverness, humour and punch in The Spanish Prisoner, you'll probably enjoy Confidence. * It's rather sad that Ed Burns - who bears a physical resemblance to that potato-head, Ben Affleck, isn't as well known. Affleck can't act his way out of a paper bag and he keeps getting roles. Whereas Burns is a damn fine actor. Let's face it, without talent, 'handsome' only takes you so far. 2:45 p.m. - 2004-03-30 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
